Bringing Healthcare Closer To Home For Farm Families

The Rural Health Initiative (RHI), a program which provides on-farm health screenings and preventative care to farm families in select Wisconsin counties, recently received a $1,000 grant from the Green Bay Packers Foundation! The initiative will use the grant money to provide health screenings – including cholesterol, glucose, blood pressure, and body mass index assessments – for new families.

Founded in 2003, the Rural Health Initiative currently serves farm families in Outagamie, Shawano, Waupaca, and Marathon counties. The program recognizes that farmers often have time, distance, or cost barriers that prevent them from seeking non-emergency medical care and routine checkups. By bringing health services right to the farm, the RHI removes those barriers.
