3 Common Alley Scraper Blade Options for Alley Scraper Systems
When researching and selecting the appropriate alley scraper system for your operation, there are many features to consider. In this article, we’ll take a look at the most common alley scraper blade options.
Folding V-Scrapers:
The Folding V-Scraper is just what it sounds like – it’s a v-shaped scraper that folds together during the reverse travel.
- Wings fold together on reverse travel allowing the waste material to pass around the scraper.
- Low-profile scraper wings and folding design allows animals, tractors, and skid steer loaders easy passage when bedding freestalls
- Suitable for 64” – 174” (1.6 – 4.4m) alley widths
- Wings are replaceable and easy to service
Versa Folding V-Scrapers:
The Versa Folding V-Scraper is very similar to the Folding V-Scraper. The Versa Folding V-Scrapers differ in that they have blade options that bolt onto the wings eliminating the need to replace the entire scraper. They are also more versatile in that they can be used on various types of barn floors.
- Versatile, low-profile scraper
- Low-profile scraper wings and folding design allows easy passage for animals, tractors, and skid steer loaders when bedding freestalls
- Available in 6, 8, 10, 12, and 14’
- Cleans alley widths from 64” – 174” (1.6 – 4.4m)
- Choice of 3 economical, replaceable, and bolt-on blade edges (Optional):
- AR400 Steel: Works well with sand bedding
- Rubber: Recommended when using on rubber mat flooring
- Urethane: Rubber mat flooring, concrete, or sand bedding (where floor wear is a concern). Urethane is a great alternative for longer wear.
- Wings are replaceable and easy to service
Folding Angled Tip-Up Scrapers:
This heavy-duty scraper follows the wall tightly to provide a better cleaning.
- Blades tip up and wings pivot inward in reverse mode.
- Wings are together on reverse travel. This allows the waste material to pass around the scraper.
- Wings pivot to follow wall tightly for better cleaning
- Suitable for alley widths ranging from 84” – 192” (2.1 – 4.9m)
- Heavier weight produces better cleaning
- Extra steel in wear points
- Replacement wings and blades are available for easy servicing
- Scraper removes easily
- Scraper can be replaced without removing sled
Options:
Sleds
When the alleys are of unequal length, slider sleds allow chain to pass through.
- Available for on-floor and recessed chain installations
- Slider sleds allow chain to pass through for installations with unequal alley lengths
- Sleds available in standard or short
-
- 56-1/2” sleds provide scraper stability
-
- 36-1/2” sleds are available where a shorter sled is required
For Rubber Flooring
Hard nylon rollers located on sled ends and scraper arms position the scraper above the rubber covered alleys, ensuring only rubber blades touch rubber flooring.
